Dear Neighbors, I’m sure all of you are pleased to see the return of the community newsletter. Linda Fogg has offered to put these together but I’m sure she could use help if others are interested. Don’t feel shy to contact her. We hope that this newsletter will help everyone be as involved a member of the community as you wish to be. Included in the newsletter is a neighborhood directory form. Please fill this out (especially if you are new) and return it to the listed address in order to be in the next directory and to receive a copy of it. If you want to get to know your neighbors, keep your eyes open for flyers on parties and work days.Melissa Bowen is organizing monthly gatherings at the clubhouse so that everyone has the chance to meet, socialize and just have a good time. The parties are planned for the first Friday of the month. You will receive a flyer beforehand with the theme and date/time. Melissa also works on special parties and activities at various times throughout the year for the children of our neighborhood. Tracy Kruk and Sandy Luck have been planning and organizing a Spring clean up day for the community. Be sure to look in this newsletter for a list of jobs and the date/time. We hope to take care of many small items (and some larger ones) around the community that many of us are capable of handling. In the last several months we have added some starter carpets to the clubhouse to help alleviate the sound echo and a new/used refrigerator to replace the broken one. The board has also had the dead trees cut down from around the clubhouse and pool. For the Spring clean up day we have the replacement part for the toddler playground equipment and new mulch ordered. The mulch will need to be spread. In addition to this, we hired a new grounds company to work on the community property and a new heating and air conditioning company to perform those regular maintenance visits to the clubhouse HVAC.Our most ambitious plan is to attack the water problems around the clubhouse and pool. Greg Lilly will chair this committee which will spend the next year gathering information on how best to solve the problem and then set forth the plans for this improvement. Greg will need a couple of committee members, so please contact him if you would like to do this. This is a long-term committee but the work should not be extensive. If you have any questions or issues that need to be brought to the board please contact any of us. The names and contact information is included in this newsletter and on the community web page ihge.org Sophia Phillips Community Association President I’m pleased to say the budget for FY06 was passed. The budget covers July 2005 through June 2006. We have included some information and statistics on the vote as well as a re-cap of the vote. For the FY06 budget, the board proposed a slight increase in the tax rate from .0022 to .0023. We estimate this will mean an increase for each of you from $15 to $50 depending on the county assessment of your home. In order to determine that increase for you, check your latest tax bill and multiply the assessment value on the Indian Hills line by .0023. The difference between that and what is on that tax bill would be the increase for you. The board proposed this increase to cover some expensive maintenance within our community. This slight increase would enable us to tackle one or two of these issues within the next two years rather than wait three to five years. We do not have enough extra money each year to completely cover these costs, but we could earmark some money each year in our budget towards these improvements. This rate can always be decreased later. The
first project that we want to tackle is the major job of fixing the
water problems around the clubhouse and pool. We will need community
member volunteers that would like to work as a comity to investigate
ways of solving this problem and to gather quotes from contractors for
the work. Other projects that remain on our needs list are resurfacing
the tennis courts, improving the landscaping around the clubhouse and in
community areas, and fixing the baby pool. Some of these issues may end
up being tied in with the water fix.

Please contact me if you have information you would like to include in the next newsletter. I will gather information and plan to publish another newsletter in June.
If you would like to schedule other social events or community projects please contact Tracy Kruck, Melissa Bowen or Sandy Luck.
