A Word from our President...

First I would like to welcome new members to the neighborhood. We look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you.

This Spring we had our first community clean up day of the year. Thanks to all of those who were able to make it.  The flowers, benches, and picnic tables look wonderful.  Even the trash can holders got a sprucing up! And have you noticed the diaper changing stations in both the ladies’ and men’s rooms?

Attendance was low but spirits were high and we accomplished many of the items on our list.    We hope to make this an annual event in which the whole community can pitch in, spend a day with neighbors and help keep our neighborhood beautiful.  We still need to clean up the stream as it passes through our neighborhood.  If you would like to help with this please contact a board member or get a group together to do the job.

Jennie Kantowski pulled together a community yard sale in May which I am told was successful.   The Bowens and the Bartons decorated the clubhouse and organized a fun Memorial Day party. Two adults even got in the pool at 10pm! The rest of us didn't come prepared for the polar bear plunge. The community has purchased new tables for our clubhouse.  I'm sure everyone has noticed the new mulch in the playground and the repaired toddler playground equipment. A large group showed up quite early on a March morning to help get that mulch spread in time for the Easter Bunny and egg hunt. Thanks to all for their efforts.

The monthly happy hours continue on the first Friday of every month (unless there is a holiday to work around). These are a nice way to spend a Friday evening catching up with neighbors, eating and relaxing. Please come down and join the crowd even if you don't know anyone; this is a great way to get acquainted.

As you can see, we have been busy this Winter and Spring. Now that Summer is upon us the pool is open and we are all thinking about vacations and summertime activities. We request a small amount of your time to think about the community. In June the election was held for next year's board.  Many of you may have received the ballot via email, how did that work for you?

Last but not least, is the water issue along the playground/ basketball court and between the tennis courts and the road. The community voted to place funds aside to fix this problem. Before we can do that next year (summer/fall) we need a committee to talk to landscapers and contractors about how to resolve the issue and then make a recommendation to the board. This should not be a difficult job but it is definitely your chance to get your opinion known. Perhaps the Saturday morning basketball team has some suggestions?  If you are interested in working on this committee, please contact any board member. Greg Lilly has volunteered to chair the committee.

We hope to see you at the next meeting(TBA) .

Enjoy your summer.

Sophia Phillips

Community President

And From Our Secretary

The board meeting on June 30th was successful.  We started about 7:45 PM with nine families present in person.  I tallied a total of 37 proxies (including those present), all voting in favor of the slate, or 28% of the 132 residences.  The by-laws require 20%,

so we have a new Board.

There was one write-in for Melissa Bowen and one for Tony Rufulo, so I take that as a mandate to actively include those two in our board activities, in whatever way they want to be involved.  Besides, just try keeping them out.

There was a general discussion about the paving, grounds keeping and the upcoming party on July 9th.  No subjects came up for a vote.

We remember with great affection Tony's wife, Theresa, and also Jack Marino, who both were such strong members of Indian Hills for such a long time, and made such great contributions by their spirit and sense of community.  We miss them, and see their commitment being carried forward by the new families who come out and get involved in what's going on.

Respectfully submitted

Bill Anselm

Secretary

Pool News

The pool is open and it looks great! Thanks to all community members who helped with clean up and set up.

The regular hours are 11:30 to 8:00 pm Sunday through Thursday, 11:30 – 9:00 on Friday and Saturday. Holidays we close at 8:00 pm. The pool is available for rental before or after pool hours only. Small parties (10 guests or fewer) may reserve the picnic table area on weekdays.

We do not allow any other parties during pool hours - even if all the guests are pool members - because we do not have enough lifeguards to handle unusually large groups. To reserve for a small party, please contact Sandy Avery (410) 757-7976 or pool@ihge.org    To reserve the clubhouse/pool for a before or after hours party, please contact Melissa Bowen (410) 757-9247 or clubhouse@ihge.org.

We are working on purchasing new umbrella for the pool deck, hopefully we can have them before the season ends. We want everyone to have a safe and fun summer at the pool. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Sandy and Kevin Avery, or call DRD Pools, Inc. at the number posted on the fence. DRD Supervisors are available all summer to see that the pool is well-run.

Have a safe and fun summer,

Sandy Avery
