The following were topics of discussion
at the meeting or comments on their ballots. If you wish to have
input on these issues or bring up other issues, you may always contact
a board member all of whom are listed on the last page. You
may also email a board member via the web page.
1. Problems of drainage around the pool
and playground, using grass or mulch to control wet areas
2. Making the deteriorating baby pool
cover safe for children.
3. Repair or replacement of the neighborhood
entrance signs
4. Adjustments of revenue percentage
in kind with the increased property assessments
5. Improvement of public areas such as
the playground and main entrance
6. Questions concerning the pool budget
7. Suggestion that the community should
rely more on fee-based revenue rather than tax-based, as a way to
minimize the tax burden
8. It was noted that we should encourage
outside pool membership while at the same time maintaining community
standards (avoiding over crowding and parking problems, encouraging
pool and clubhouse rental, maintaining homeowner use as primary).
9. It was requested that all Board meetings
be posted with a week’s notice on the sign visible exiting
the community.
10. Future Board meeting minutes should
include a Treasurer’s report to show how well expenses are
progressing against the year’s plan.
11. The tennis courts need maintenance
before major repair is needed. The Board would like recommendations
on contractors for bid solicitation.
Full meeting minutes can be found on the web page.

Plans In the Works
Playground & More Water
Board members have
begun gathering estimates to border the playground and fill
it with mulch. The plan is to help with water flow across
it. This estimate will also include the cost to add
more plants between the playground and clubhouse to help
soak up excess water. |
Tennis Courts
We have also received an estimate from Teniseal to resurface
and repair the tennis court. We need help getting more
estimates from other companies. Is there a community
member interested in getting the tennis court back in shape? |
Front Entrance
The board has also begun gathering estimates to improve
the plantings at the entrance to match the two sides and
create more of a formal entrance. |
Swim Team News
The Swim Team committee is getting ready to gear up for
the 2007 season. Sandy Avery is looking forward to coaching
the team again, and much of the committee will be retaining
their current roles. Virginia Owens will be stepping down
from the Chairperson role so that somebody from the neighborhood
can assume the responsibility. She will still volunteer for
the team, and will be available to help ensure a smooth transition.
If you have questions about swim team or you are willing
to volunteer on the committee, please contact Sandy (coachsandy@ihge.org) or Virginia Owens (virginia.owens@comcast.net)
as soon as possible. |
Pool Committee News
Just last month, the rejuvenated pool committee had its
first meeting to discuss current and future plans. The
pool is a valuable resource to our community and the pool
committee’s goal is to develop a plan for the future
while still maintaining the pool and its surrounding areas. NEXT
Meeting is February 12, 2007 @ 8pm at the Clubhouse

BABY POOL
The existing wooden cover is rotting and is unsafe. It
must be corrected before the pool season opens or children
could get splinters.
Replace, Repair, Other
DRAINAGE
Various options to control the spillage and standing water
around the pool including landscaping, concrete, petroleum-based
mulch, tires, limiting usage, etc. were discussed. Estimates
for work will be obtained from various suppliers.
FENCE
County requirements are that the fence be at least 8 feet tall
at any point, on the inside or outside. There have been
incidents of youths climbing the fence and using the pool,
and other cases of vandals prying the fence bottom up, and
dumping debris and stealing pool equipment.
MEMBERSHIP
Mailings need to be generated to current members so the Board
will have a basis of estimate for likely income from outside
membership. Children of homeowners who have moved out
of the community have to buy memberships in order to use the
pool unless accompanied by the homeowner.
MAINTENANCE & REPAIR & LONG-TERM PROJECTS
The list of tasks was reviewed and the need for volunteers
discussed. The committee will develop a timeline to address
long-term projects such as coating the pool or new furniture.
If you have any suggestions, would like to volunteer, or
would like to be on the pool committee, please call Gray
Barton at 410-626-7071 or e-mail at gray.barton@comcast.net |
Current Board Members
In June we all voted for the next year’s board members. A
board year runs July 1st through June 30th. As
always, the current list of board members and contact information
can always be obtained from our web page. www.IHGE.org
President: Kate
de Medeiros
Vice President: Sophia
Phillips
Treasurer: Jim
Kantowski
Secretary: Bill
Anselm
Director’s at Large: Gray
Barton, Melissa Bowen, Debbie McCloskey, Steve Riley, Steve Riley &
Kathy Wicker
There are many members of our community who are not board members
but they volunteer their time and efforts to help us all out. They
are listed below and can always be contacted through the web page
as well.
It’s not too early to think about next year’s board
members. If you want to be part of the budget decisions and
direction of this community be sure to volunteer to run in June.
That’s when we will vote for board members serving July 1st through
June 30th. You have five months to think about it. If
that is too much, you can always just volunteer to help the board
gather estimates or take care of tasks.
CLUBHOUSE GATHERINGS
It’s the season for Friday
night happy hours. These are held on the first Friday
of each month but folks need to volunteer to host them. That
just means setting a theme, getting the word out and some
basic set-up. Contact Melissa Bowen if you want to
do this. |
