Indian Hills Swimming Pool Rules & Guest Policy 2010 –Revised 6/28/10 (PDF version of the rules listed below) 1. The lifeguard must be on duty and the pool officially open before any user is allowed in the water or pool area. 2. All persons using the pool or pool area do so at their own risk and sole responsibility. The management does not assume responsibility for any accident-injury in connection with such use. 3. Residents and Associate members must sign-in upon entering the pool facility. Guests must also sign. Your cooperation helps the pool management company keep accurate records on pool usage. This ensures adequate lifeguard coverage now and in the future. 4. Guests must be accompanied by a resident or Associate Member at all times. When a resident/associate member leaves guest must also leave. Residents/associate member will be held responsible for all actions of their guests. The cost of any property damage will be charged to the responsible party. Guest privileges may be suspended if pool usage is too high as determined by the lifeguard on duty. There is no charge for guests of residents. Associate members must purchase guest passes to bring guests. 5. The pool may be closed at any time due to mechanical breakdown, operational difficulties, or inclement weather. The decision is at the sole discretion of management. 6. All swimmers shall exit the pool when the lifeguard leaves his/her station or at the lifeguard's request. 7. All bathers must shower before entering the pool. Bath houses, showers, and sanitary facilities are provided. 8. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a resident 18 years of age older. If the child is in the pool, the guardian must be in the immediate view of the child, unless the child has demonstrated adequate swimming ability as determined by the lifeguard on duty. The child's guardian is responsible for child's conduct. 9. Infants and children wearing diapers or who are not toilet trained shall be permitted in the pool, but must wear tight fitting rubber pants or "swim diapers.” In the event of fecal contamination, pool will be closed in accordance with Health Department regulations. 10. Parent/Guardian must closely watch children at all times. Parent/Guardian must accompany a non-swimmer in the water at all times.* 11. For the purpose of supporting non-swimmers, inner tubes, water wings, and all other floatation devices are not permitted at any time. For safety purposes, only a life vest approved by the United States Coast Guard is to be used. If a child uses such a life vest, a parent or guardian must accompany the child in the water at all times.* 12. Floatation mats and rafts are not permitted in the pool area at any time. 13. Running, pushing, wrestling, ball playing, or causing undue disturbance in or around the pool area will not be tolerated. Spouting of water and similar unhygienic practices will not be permitted in the pool. 14. No abusive or profane language or breach of the peace will be tolerated. 15. All persons use this facility at their own risk and in conformance with all regulations. Individuals may be barred from the pool or pool area, at the discretion of the lifeguard in charge for violation of said rules or for any reason which in his/her judgment constitutes a hazard to others or to the management. The lifeguard is responsible for the strict enforcement and has authorization to temporarily deprive any member or guest of privileges. A full statement is to be filed with the management within 24 hours if such action if taken. 16. No pets are allowed in the pool area at any time. 17. All radios must be kept at a low volume. 18. Bicycles, motorbikes and skateboards are not permitted in the pool area at any time 19. Baby strollers and baby carriages are not permitted within ten (10) feet of the pool. 20. Only bathing suits are permissible. Cut-offs are not permitted. 21. Admission shall be refused to all persons having infectious disease, sore or inflamed eyes, colds, nasal or ear discharges, or any communicable disease of kind. Persons with excessive sunburn, open sores, or bandages of any kind will not be permitted to use the facilities. 22. All beverages or food brought into the pool area must be in paper or plastic containers and be consumed in designated areas. All trash must be disposed of in trash container. Glass containers (i.e. baby food jars, drink bottles, etc.) are not permitted in the pool area. 23. No ALCOHOL may be consumed on the areas immediately surrounding the pool deck or in the pool itself. Alcohol may be consumed in the grass area or in the pavilion area ONLY. Please consume alcohol in plastic cups (not in cans/bottles) to help maintain a family atmosphere. You must be 21 to consume alcohol. Please consume responsibly and at your own risk. If guests become intoxicated, loud, or inappropriate, the lifeguards will call a member of the Pool Committee or Board, and you will be asked to leave the pool. If this escalates, the police will be called. No glass bottles or keg type containers in any area within the pool fencing. 24. Only one person is permitted on the diving board at a time. The individual or diving board may bounce only one time on the end of the diving board and must dive straight off the diving board and swim directly to the ladder and exit. Flips and back dives are strictly prohibited. Diving well must be clear before anyone can go off the diving board. 25. All personal injuries, however slight, must be reported to the lifeguard on duty. 26. Do not approach lifeguards while they are watching the pool unless it is an emergency. When possible, ask a Pool Committee member for assistance. * PLEASE NOTE: RULES #10 AND 11 ARE NEW, AND WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED |

Pool Rental Use The pool is operated for the exclusive use of Residents, their guests and Associate Pool Members during regularly scheduled hours. NO POOL PARTIES OR POOL RENTALS MAY OCCUR DURING POOL HOURS – EVEN IF THE GUESTS ARE ALL RESIDENTS OR ASSOCIATE MEMBERS. WE DECIDED AS A COMMUNITY NOT TO INCUR THE VERY LARGE EXPENSE OF EXTRA LIFE GUARD STAFFING THAT WOULD ACCOMMODATE THE EXTRA BATHER LOAD. The only exception is that we do allow small (6-8 children) birthday parties during weekdays with prior reservation. (Email melisbowen@comcast.net to schedule a small party.) Residents (21 or older) can rent the pool/clubhouse before or after scheduled pool hours. Rental is handled by the clubhouse committee. It is the renter’s responsibility to provide a lifeguard for every 40 swimmers. The life guards must hold current, valid Anne Arundel County life guard licenses and at least one person must hold valid a Anne Arundel County Pool Operators license. Restrictions

Check-in/Check-out of premises will be by designated Clubhouse officer. |

Please note that Associate Memberships do not include
guest privileges. Only household members may use the pool. Proof of
address may be required during peak hours or at the discretion of the
staff. Household members include up to two adults, children living in the
home, and a regular caretaker if listed on the membership form.
