Re:     Indian Hills/Glen Eden Pool Associate Membership

We are hard at work getting the pool ready to open. We open Saturday, May 28th 2005. Pool hours and rules remain unchanged. Please find a copy of the rules attached. Once again, DRD Pools will provide the pool management. There phone number is posted at various places at the pool. They are committed to good customer service, but they cannot act if they do not know there is a problem, so please feel free to call them if you have any concerns or questions. If you would rather talk to me, or if they do not resolve a problem to your satisfaction, please feel free to call.

Please note that Associate Memberships do not include guest privileges. Only household members may use the pool. Proof of address may be required during peak hours or at the discretion of the staff. Household members include up to two adults, children living in the home, and a regular caretaker if listed on the membership form. Associate membership does not include clubhouse rental privileges because of our insurance coverage. Associate members who have wanted to rent the pool and/or clubhouse for a private party generally have a community member rent it for them.

The pool is open from Memorial Weekend through Labor Day. During Anne Arundel Public School days, the pool is open weekdays from 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm and regular hours on weekends. The regular hours are 11:30 to 8:00 pm Sunday through Thursday, 11:30 – 9:00 on Friday and Saturday. Holidays we close at 8:00 pm.

Associate members are welcome to join our swim team. Please contact Virginia Owens at virginia.owens@comcast.net for more information regarding the swim team. Swim lessons are available from local teens. Please see their signs on the bulletin board next to the bathhouse for more information.

Last year we replastered the pool and installed a new fiberglass diving board. This year we are going to try making the tennis court available on a first-come, first-served basis during pool hours. If you have any questions, please email me at melisbowen@comcast.net (fastest response) or call me at (410) 757-7976 (please be patient – high call volume.)

Indian Hills Swimming Pool Rules & Guest Policy

1. The lifeguard must be on duty and the pool officially open before any user is allowed in the water or pool area.
2. All persons using the pool or pool area do so at their own risk and sole responsibility. The management does not assume responsibility for any accident-injury in connection with such use.
3. Residents must sign-in upon entering the pool facility. Guests must also sign. Your cooperation helps the pool management company keep accurate records on pool usage. This ensures adequate lifeguard coverage now and in the future.
4. Guests must be accompanied by a resident at all times. When a resident leaves guest must also leave. Residents will be held responsible for all actions of their guests. The cost of any property damage will be charged to the responsible party. Guest privileges may be suspended if pool usage is too high as determined by the lifeguard on duty. Associate members are not allowed guests at any time. There is no charge for guests.
5. The pool may be closed at any time due to mechanical breakdown, operational difficulties, or inclement weather. The decision is at the sole discretion of management.
6. All swimmers shall exit the pool when the lifeguard leaves his/her station or at the lifeguard's request.
7. All bathers must shower before entering the pool. Bath houses, showers, and sanitary facilities are provided.
8. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a resident 18 years of age older. If the child is in the pool, the guardian must be in the immediate view of the child, unless the child has demonstrated adequate swimming ability as determined by the lifeguard on duty. The child's guardian is responsible for child's conduct.
9. Infants and children wearing diapers or who are not toilet trained shall be permitted in the pool, but must wear tight fitting rubber pants or "swim diapers.” In the event of fecal contamination, pool will be closed in accordance with Health Department regulations.
10. Life preservers and inner tubes are not permitted at any time. If a child uses water wings, the child must be accompanied in the main pool by an adult.
11. Floatation mats and rafts are not permitted in the pool area at any time.

14. All persons use this facility at their own risk and in conformance with all regulations. Individuals may be barred from the pool or pool area, at the discretion of the lifeguard in charge for violation of said rules or for any reason which in his/her judgment constitutes a hazard to others or to the management. The lifeguard is responsible for the strict enforcement and has authorization to temporarily deprive any member or guest of privileges. Flips and back dives are strictly prohibited. Diving well must be clear before anyone can go off the diving board.
24. All personal injuries, however slight, must be reported to the lifeguard on duty.

Pool Rental

Use

The pool is operated for the exclusive use of Residents, their guests and Associate Pool Members during regularly scheduled hours.

NO POOL PARTIES OR POOL RENTALS MAY OCCUR DURING POOL HOURS – EVEN IF THE GUESTS ARE ALL RESIDENTS OR ASSOCIATE MEMBERS. WE DECIDED AS A COMMUNITY NOT TO INCUR THE VERY LARGE EXPENSE OF EXTRA LIFE GUARD STAFFING THAT WOULD ACCOMMODATE THE EXTRA BATHER LOAD.

The only exception is that we do allow small (6-8 children) birthday parties during weekdays with prior reservation. (Email melisbowen@comcast.net to schedule a small party.)

Residents (21 or older) can rent the pool/clubhouse before or after scheduled pool hours. Rental is handled by the clubhouse committee. It is the renter’s responsibility to provide a lifeguard for every 40 swimmers.  The life guards must hold current, valid Anne Arundel County life guard licenses and at least one person must hold valid a Anne Arundel County Pool Operators license.

Restrictions

Rental will be on a first come first served basis.
No rental date will be reserved without a signed rental agreement, rental fee & deposit.
The Resident will be responsible/liable for all event related activities and attendees.
The Resident will be responsible for all clean-up at the conclusion of the event.
The Basketball court is not included in the rental and is open for community use at ALL times and is not to be used for parking.
The Playground is not included in the rental and is open for community use at ALL times.

Access

Check-in/Check-out of premises will be by designated Clubhouse officer.
